LASUCOM INDUCTS THE 3RD SET OF DENTAL SURGEONS
…….produces her 2nd Honours BDS graduate
The Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), the only State University College of Medicine with full accreditation in dental programme has produced her second graduate with Honour in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).
Speaking at the induction ceremony of the 3rd set of Graduating Dental Surgeons, on Wednesday 27th February, 2019, the Vice Chancellor Lagos State University, Prof. ‘Lanre Fagbohun SAN, represented by the Acting Provost, Prof Anthonia Ogbera said LASUCOM had kept faith with the vision of being the preferred medical school in Nigeria.
According to her, the College at 20 years has inducted 13th set of medical doctors, and today the 3rd set of graduating dental surgeons are being administered with the Hippocratic Oath
She added that in addition to the MBBS, BDS, Physiology and Nursing programmes, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited the College B.Sc programme in Pharmacology and the first set of students had since been admitted.
She welcomed the inductees to the Profession while advising them to be good team players.
She said “… .. love yourself, love your patients, love your work. Be humble and be a team player- no one person knows it all. Know when to ask for second opinion. ”
She appreciated the parents of the inductees, for their support which according to her contributed in no small measure to the success of the graduating dental surgeons.
She thanked the Lagos State Government for the financial and administative supports given to the College
In her remarks, the Dental Elder, Prof M. O. Ogunlewe, congratulated the new doctors on their successful journey.
She admonished them to imbibe the culture of communication and confidence in their patients
She advised the new dental surgeons to continuously educate themselves and be humble to learn from their surbordinate
She added that compassion and fear of God should be their watchword.
In his response, Dr Moyosore Osoba, who graduated with an Honours, thanked the Acting Provost, Prof Anthonia Ogbera and the academic staff, who according to him, combined teaching with parenting.
