DR. GABRIEL OLUKAYODE AJAYI B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D was born in 1962. He attended Kossy Bethel Primary School, Ilupeju, Lagos and Igogo Commercial High School, Igogo-Ekiti, Ekiti State for his Primary and Secondary education respectively. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Biochemistry) degrees from the University of Lagos. He proceeded to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State for his Ph.D degree in Biochemistry. He also holds a Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria. He joined the Lagos State University College of Medicine in 2001 as an Assistant Lecturer and was promoted to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2014. He had been the Supervisor of the Medical Biochemistry Department in 2012 and Coordinator in 2015 before he was appointed in March 2016 as the Acting Head of Department. He has served in various College and University administrative committees as member and he is a member of many professional bodies some of which are Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Institute of Biomedical Science of United Kingdom, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology and National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria. As a researcher, he has notable research articles and abstracts to his credit published in reputable, local and international peer-reviewed journals. His research interests are phytomedicine, drug discovery, biochemical and environmental toxicology. He is happily married with children.
