Tuoyo is a Clinical Senior Lecturer, in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Head & Neck Cancer Surgery division, at the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Lagos Nigeria. He doubles as a consultant at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where he is Head of the department and Chief of Head & Neck Cancer Division of the department. He obtained his fellowships both at the West African College of Surgeons and Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center, in Bangalore, and concluded his postgraduate research (PGR) degree in Cancer Medicine and Genetics at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. He was a clinical fellow at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, Aintree University Teaching Hospital, Liverpool and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York. He is a British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (BAOMS) – Endowment Sub-Committee Research grant awardee, an International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS) Fellowship awardee, an IAOMS Foundation Alumni, an International Fellow of Head & Neck Oncology Society grant awardee and a Welcome genome campus ACSC grant awardee. He believes that the knowledge and application of cancer biology should play a lot more role in patient care.

Research Interests/Specialisations

His clinical interest includes evaluating head and neck cancer surgery and microvascular reconstruction outcomes. His laboratory interests include distinct genomic variants amongst African cancers and onco-viral promoters. He has published in several local and international peer-review journals. He teaches both MBBS and BDS courses. He is a lover of swimming and fishing, but he isn’t good at either.
