It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the webpage of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM).
As the Provost, I am proud of the many ways we are bringing transformative medical education to Lagos State and Nigeria.
LASUCOM is the pride of Lagos State University (LASU). As a world-class medical school, we are inspired to teach with creativity and dedication, to heal with quality and compassion, and to inspire discovery and innovation with integrity and resolve.
There are so many exciting and fulfilling initiatives taking place in our College as we strive to achieve and maintain excellence in our missions of medical education, research, patient care, and service to the community.
Over the past few years, we have witnessed an extraordinary level of growth and expansion in our College, admitting the most intelligent and competitive students in our history, dramatically changing our structural landscape, and increasing our research footprint.
We now have 4 faculties – Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Dentistry. We presently award undergraduate degrees in Medicine & Surgery, Dentistry, Nursing Science, Physiology, and recently Pharmacology, apart from several postgraduate degrees.
I can confidently say that what makes LASUCOM exceptional are the academic and non-academic members of staff who are dedicated to helping our aspiring students to become the compassionate, highly skilled health-care providers of tomorrow. A large majority of our academic staff are leaders in the field of medicine, who work with both state and national health ministries to establish standardized clinical care and develop national health policies.
We are very proud of the unrivaled quality of our products (who are globally recognized and sought after) and the groundbreaking research our faculty engage in.
Our campus is located in the heart of Ikeja, an exciting and cosmopolitan area of Lagos with an enormous array of cultural, historical, and social attractions. Our beautiful campus offers students a pedestrian-friendly lifestyle with numerous recreation opportunities. We share the same landscape with our sister institution, the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) which offers the best in clinical care in the country and serves as our training ground.
