Professor Mobolaji Adewale OLUDARA as LASUCOM Ag. Provost

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof., Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has appointed Prof. Mobolaji Adewale Oludara as Ag. Provost, LASUCOM for a period of One(1) year, effective from Monday 27th of December, 2021.

Prof. Mobolaji Adewale OLUDARA is a Professor of Surgery & Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) & Teaching hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

A product of College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, graduating with MBBS in 1982 and post graduate fellowship at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos where he bagged fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons FWACS in 1992.

Further training and experience has taken him to the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Egypt, India & South Africa.

A diplomate (in Laparoscopic Surgery) of the University of Strasbourg, France (under IRCAD). A pioneer surgeon in the team that commenced Open Heart Surgery at LASUTH in 2004. He also pioneered Laparoscopic Surgery in LASUTH (2011). His main research and service focus include Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies, Appendectomies and diagnostic laparoscopies apart from Surgical oncology and trauma as well as Thyroid Surgery amongst others.

He is the Chairman, Lagos State Goiter control program and the train the trainer for the Lagos state breast cancer awareness and control project. His involvement with training of medical students has taken him to various Universities in Nigeria including Anatomy Demonstration at the University of Ibadan, (1983-84), Visiting Lecturer II in Surgery, University of Maiduguri (1990), Lecturer I in Surgery, Ogun State University Medical School (1995-97) and the Lagos State University College of Medicine which he joined as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery in 2003. He served as Ag Head, Department of Surgery (2007-2009) and became a Professor of Surgery in 2017.

He is currently the Chairman Lagos State branch of the Society for Gastroenterology & Hepatology in Nigeria (SOGHIN) as well as the former National Publicity Secretary ( 2016-2021)

He speaks English, French & Yoruba.

Prof. Oludara was announced as the Academic staff of the year in 2007 at the College. He became Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor in October 2017. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences before being appointed the Ag Provost of the College in December, 2021 .
