THE INSTITUTION

POSITION OF COLLEGE SECRETARY.

Qualifications & Experience
• A first degree (minimum Second-Class Lower Division) from a recognised university.
• NYSC Discharge Certificate or valid exemption evidence.
• Five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics (SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE).
• A relevant master’s degree is mandatory.
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience, including 3 years as a Deputy Registrar in a recognized tertiary institution.
• Membership in the Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and other
relevant professional associations (e.g., ICSAN, NIM, CIPM) is required.
• Strong understanding of University collegiate structures, preferably in a medical college.
• Candidates must be proficient in ICT for management services.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership in the college’s administrative operations.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, government regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Serve as Secretary to the Court of Governors, College Academic Board, and key committees.
• Oversee records management, correspondence, and institutional reporting.
• Facilitate effective communication between the faculties, provost, university, and external stakeholders.

POSITION OF FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Qualifications & Experience
• A first degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (minimum Second-Class Lower Division)
from a recognised university.
• Professional certification (ICAN/ACA/ACMA/ANAN) is mandatory.
• NYSC Discharge Certificate or valid exemption evidence.
• Five (5) O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics (SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE).
• A relevant master’s degree is mandatory.
• Minimum of 12 years’ experience, including 5 years in a senior financial management role.
• At least 3 years of experience at the level of deputy bursar in a university or comparable institution.
• Experience in budget control, financial reporting, and audit compliance is essential.
• Knowledge of government financial regulations, IFRS, and ERP systems is advantageous.
• Candidates must be proficient in the use of accounting software.
• Strong understanding of University collegiate structures, preferably in a medical college.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and manage the college’s annual budget, ensuring fiscal discipline.
• Oversee financial reporting, treasury management, and internal controls.
• Coordinate audits (internal & external) and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
• Implement cost-saving strategies and optimise resource allocation.
• Supervise the bursary unit and financial transactions across departments.
• Advise the Provost and Governing Council on financial policies and risk management.

Tenure and Age Limit
The appointments are for an initial term of two (2) years, renewable for another two (2) years based on
satisfactory performance and eligibility. Applicants must not be more than 61 years of age by 1st October
2025.

The Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), an integral part of Lagos State University,
was established on 9th February 1999 with the institutional goal of producing medical doctors and other health professionals who are:
i. of acceptable national and international standards;
ii. of high quality and in sufficient numbers to meet the healthcare needs of Lagos State and Nigeria
at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels;
iii. capable of playing various roles within the healthcare team and of motivating, educating,
supervising, and leading other health workers in health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment;
iv. prepared for further academic and professional development, enabling them to serve effectively
as specialists, educators in medical schools, or health management experts;

Originally established as a single-faculty college offering only the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
(MB;BS) programme, LASUCOM has evolved into a medical school of enviable repute—well-ranked both
locally and internationally in terms of academic and non-teaching personnel, research output, accreditation
status, infrastructure, and alumni achievements.
