In a solemn yet celebratory event, the College held an induction ceremony today for the second batch of its 18th and 8th Set of graduating Medical Doctors and Dental Surgeons. The ceremony, which took place in the Medical Sciences Building Auditorium, honored sixteen (16) MBBS and One (1) BDS graduates who recently completed their rigorous training and marked a crucial milestone for the new inductees transitioning from academia to the professional world.
Faculty members, a few distinguished guests, and the proud families of the graduates attended the event. Despite its modest scale, the ceremony was filled with emotion and pride as the graduates prepared to take their oaths and formally join the medical and dental professions.
In his brief address to the inductees and guests present, the Provost, Prof. Abiodun Adewuya ably represented by his Deputy Prof. Olufemi Idowu, emphasized the importance of the medical profession and the responsibilities that come with it. He congratulated the graduates on their perseverance and dedication, particularly in light of the challenges they faced during their rigorous training. “You are now equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding to significantly impact the healthcare sector.
As you step into your roles as medical doctors and dental surgeons, remember that your commitment to patient care and continuous learning will be the cornerstone of your success,” Prof. Idowu stated.
The Inductees were then presented to the Provost by their respective Deans of Faculties – Prof. Kikelomo Wright, the Dean Faculty of Clinical Sciences and Prof K.E Adebiyi the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry.
Following the presentation, the graduates rose to recite the Hippocratic Oath administered by Provost on behalf of the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr. Fatima Kyari. This formally signified their induction into the profession and symbolizes their sworn commitment to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics and patient care.
The ceremony concluded with a presentation of gifts to the New Doctors was followed by a small reception, where the graduates and their families had the opportunity to mingle and celebrate the momentous occasion.
