  1. To introduce the students to concepts and principles of Community Health and its relevance in the health care delivery system of Nigeria.
  2. To equip students with the knowledge and skills to plan, organize and evaluate appropriate health programmes (on health promotion, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health) in collaboration with other members of the health team in order to reduce morbidity and mortality in the society.
  3. To train public health specialists with core competency to assume leadership roles in public health organizations and efforts.
  4. To conduct research on public health problems in the state, the country and internationally.
  5. To develop effective collaborations with government and non-governmental organizations in improving the health of the society.
