Academic Background, Trainings, Skills, Positions, Teaching, Achievements (in Summary).

Highly skilled professional with more than 24 years of clinical/teaching/research experience in Paediatrics/ Paediatric Cardiology and interventions with more than one hundred scientific publications in National and International Journals. I graduated with honor from the medical school of the University of Ilorin with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and won the prize for the best graduating student in internal medicine in 1997. A Fellow of the West African College of Physician and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in the Faculty of Paediatrics (FWACP and FMCPaed) in April and May 2006 respectively and won the best part II dissertation at graduation from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria for which the Dr. Adeoye & Adedayo Adeniyi prize for being the best candidate in Research and Clinical Paediatrics in 2006 was awarded. Also, I obtained an International Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology with interventions at the Narayana Hrudayalaya Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Bangalore India which is the largest Pediatric cardiac center in the world. Hence, positioned and equipped with the expertise to start cardiac catheterization with interventions for children in the West African sub-region which has brought relief, improved quality of life and outcome for children and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease in the West African sub-region. A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, also a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and a Fellow of the Nigerian Cardiac Society. Obtained a PGD in Theology at the Redeemer’s University, Masters in Public Health from the University of Lagos, Masters in Healthcare Law and Ethics from the University Of Dundee, Scotland, certificate course in Paediatric Bioethics from Children’s Mercy Bioethics Center, Kansas City, USA, and Ph.D. in Public Health from the Walden University, Baltimore USA. Had clinical attachments/observership at the Children Healthcare Centre of Atlanta, USA, Brighton and Sussex University Hospital, and the Royal Alexandra Children Hospital, Brighton. England, and the Universitatsklinikum, Magdeburg/Otto Von Guericke University, Germany. Has extensive administrative skills and has served on several Committees within and outside the University community. A professor of Paediatric Interventional Cardiology and the Current Director, Center for Environmental Studies, Sustainable Development (CESSED), Lagos State University, the immediate past Treasurer of the Nigerian Cardiac Society, current Treasurer of NISOPAC.
