Academic Background, Trainings, Skills, Positions, Teaching, Achievements (in Summary).

Professor Disu graduated from the University of Jos in 1982. Postgraduate studies were in Lagos and London earning a Fellowship of the West African College of Physician, WACP in the Faculty of Paediatrics in 1997 and an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as a 1999/2000 Chevening Scholar. She has been a Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist for over 20 years at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and served two terms as head of department. She was a founding faculty member and first coordinator of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health LASUCOM, where she currently lectures both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Prof. Disu is also an examiner for WACP. Prof. Disu has over 50 publications and a reviewer. Currently involved in a number of research work and a principal investigator for her institution in a WHO multicenter double-blind randomised drug trial research.

Research Interests/Specialisations

These include Immunology (Pneumococcal Vaccine) and Haematological Indices of Sickle-Cell Disease, HIV, Diverse Perinatal Issues, Capacity Building of Health Care Workers on Neonatal Resuscitation and Essential Newborn Care. Maternal, Antennal Corticosteroids for Prevention of Preterm Morbidity and Mortality
